Do you have a habit of listening to your thoughts and letting them lead your life?
Do you have a behavior that you keep repeating that you wish you were free of?
If you could make a decision about any of these thoughts or behaviors would you say yes in diving deeper to understanding their purpose?
If it meant that you could get resolution and peace of mind from it, would you say yes and give yourself the chance of making that change in your life today?
I’m asking you these questions, because they are key to determining your commitment to making a change in yourself. Without asking, we will never know what it means to make a change in your life. Watch the video below to dive deeper into making a change, and the importance of looking into resistance, limiting beliefs, self sabotaging behaviors and patterns that are keeping you small.
What is one thing that you desire to change for the better?
It can be anything from a limiting belief, a self sabotaging behavior, a pattern or thought that holds you back every time you step into the new and create a positive change.
What is currently holding you back?
The idea here is to bring to light what that is, and how it makes you feel and discover the deeper purpose of that behavior, thought or restrictive pattern by bringing the awareness into light.
1. Identify what is holding you back
Grab a journal, and a pen and write down the one thing that is currently holding you back? Share your feelings around what’s holding you back. When you begin to bring to light that pattern, thought or behavior you begin to acknowledge it for what it’s bringing you, rather than be a victim of it and through this you discover the deeper reason of it’s lesson and how you can move through it.
2. Discover the reasons of the pattern/thought/behavior
Write down the reasons why the behavior pattern, thought or habit is there.
Why are you holding yourself back?
What are you stopping yourself from?
What is it’s purpose?
Allow yourself to be open to the answer and let your pen move by itself. The practice here is about letting go and being open to receive the answers as they come out naturally. The more you allow yourself to be with this the more accepting you become as you surrender to the present moment and the truth.
3. Acknowledge and accept
Now just be with all you have written, and accept it for what it is. While doing this, notice has anything shifted? Just by rereading what you wrote, you will find a deeper understanding and acceptance of why it’s there and you will let go of the experience and it’s hold and power over you.
4. Forgive yourself
A powerful way to release and let go of the experience is to forgive yourself.
Grab a mirror or face a mirror and say the affirmation below while thinking of the experience, and allowing yourself to release it from your life.
State and say to yourself – I forgive myself for putting myself through this experience.
I hope this has helped and you are feeling lighter and more at peace with where you are today. Feel free to share in the comments what you are willing to work on shifting in your life Today.
I would love to support you on your journey.
I believe in you. Here’s to an abundant, happy and meaningful 2014.
